Armchair Traveller on the RoadWell, Trinity friends, my plan this week was to review a movie streaming now on Netflix : Fatherhood, starring Kevin Hart.  That review will have to wait because I’m writing from the North Shore of Superior and find myself without the internet or cell reception for some of the research I do for my reviews!    Instead, I’m going to share a bit about what Dave and I are up to on this road trip up and away from our armchairs! We loaded up our 24’ motor home Large Marge and headed north a few days ago. We made a left turn on HWY 17 at Sudbury and headed west about two hours to Massey, Ontario where we checked into Chutes Provincial Park.   What a spot this is!  The Two Bridges Trail took us alongside the River rushing south in a beautiful series of rapids.  A short hike leads to two different viewing platforms located close to the Chutes. They say that time in nature is good for the soul, and we concur!   The deep mixed forest, beautiful waterfalls and rapids had us both feeling grateful to be living in such a beautiful country!

After passing through Sault Ste Marie, we were treated to beautiful vistas of one of the largest fresh-water bodies of water in the world:  Lake Superior.   The coves and bays against the boreal forest are stunningly beautiful, and the vastness of the lake is as impressive as any sea coast!   It seemed that every curve led to a vista even more impressive than the last! Pancake Bay gets its name from the voyageurs who traversed the lakes and rivers in huge canoes.

By the time they’d travelled East from Thunder Bay, their food supplies had dwindled and all they had to eat was pancakes! The beach is a long Sandy strand which would be perfect for summer entertainment.  It was beautiful on a day that was mostly stormy with a few hopeful glints of sun! Large Marge is continuing her journey so you will see a few more places along Superior’s coast.  I’ve been inspired by the famous Wawa goose, a famous roadside attraction in Ontario’s north!   It’s pointing my tout out - go west!  Go north!  Grateful to be out of my armchair this fall!!!!

Safe Travels
